Halloween 2006 - Ghost Pirates Theme

3 years of planning and prop collecting went into this theme. The 2006 Halloween night yard haunt display consisted of a haunted pirate ship wreck, a treasure chest guarded by a pirate skeleton, and our staple cemetery prop haunted by a couple of ghostly buccaneers. We carved a total of 18 jack-o-lanterns. All our pumpkin carvings were done free-hand (no patterns were used). Because this  year's yard haunt was a more difficult build than previous years, we cut back on the number of jack-o-lanterns. 

This year's most important lighting effect was the simulated rippling water effect .  We wanted it to look like the ship wreck was illuminated by moonlight reflecting off of water. Below is a video clip of the effect in action.
